Crisis Resources

If you are in crisis, you may call 9-1-1*, 9-8-8* your county's crisis line, or go to your nearest emergency department.​

*These services provide crisis support but may engage emergency responders, including police or hospitalization.

Anti-Carceral Support

No Police Involvement, These resources focus on peer support, harm reduction, and voluntary crisis intervention.

  • Trans Lifeline – 877-565-8860: By and for trans people. No police, no non-consensual intervention.

  • BlackLine (Prioritizing BIPOC & LGBTQ+ folks) – 800-604-5841: Confidential, community-centered support.

  • Thrive Lifeline – 1-313-662-8209: Crisis support for neurodivergent, disabled, and marginalized folks.

  • MN Warm Line – (Varies by county): Peer-run support—check local listings.

Resources That May Involve Police or Emergency Services

These services provide crisis support but may engage emergency responders, including police or hospitalization.

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – Call or text 988: Support for suicidal thoughts and mental health crises. May call emergency services.

  • Crisis Text Line – Text "HOME" to 741741: Available 24/7 via text. May involve emergency responders.

  • Trevor Project (LGBTQ+ Youth Support) – Call 1-866-488-7386 or Text ‘START’ to 678678: Affirming crisis support, but may call emergency services if deemed necessary.

  • RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline – Call 1-800-656-4673: Connects survivors to support; local services may involve police if given details on minors or vulnerable adults.

  • SAMHSA’s National Helpline (Substance Use & Mental Health Support) - Call 1-800-662-4357: Providing referrals, including involuntary treatment options, is generally more referral than crisis support.

  • Local MN Crisis Lines (Adults & Youth) – Varies by county: Offers crisis support but may involve emergency services.
